From the reviews
We have been searching for a academy, and we finally found this academy through the recreation department. Compared to other academy's the pricing is very reasonable. Not only is it a great deal its a great school.
Fantastic martial arts school. My son has been there for a few years now and I have seen so much improvement in his confidence and abilities. He is currently a brown belt and is working toward black. Both instructors are kind, patient, positive, and helpful.
My children have been attending classes at this Academy for the last 6 years. Their classes are well designed, oriented on to develop their physical skills as well as respect, discipline and good manners. The instructors also promote the Japanese culture. My kids love this place, I really recomend this academy.
I signed up my children for karate to help them build their confidence, help with focus, build strong bodies and minds, and become familiar with martial arts. My boys learned all the above and so much more.
Your first Karate class at Academy of Martial Arts
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
