From the reviews
My daughter has been going to AAKA since she was 5 years old. Mr. & Mrs. King have made us feel like family since day 1. They have taught her respect and discipline, and she has gained confidence through learning karate and promoting to a yellow belt.
My kid it’s been in this academy going to 3 years, Mr. Chris and Mr. Jeremy have been nothing but role models to him. Mr. Chris is not only the person-to-go-to but one of the nicest, honest and truly caring trainer in this place. They teach respect, control, responsibility and he is the parent’s support in every way.
Hands down the most amazing group ever!! My girls have enjoyed attending after school and summers here and wont go anywhere else. Mrs. King and Chris are fantastic and Evie runs that office so smoothly. Nothing happens to my kids that I'm not informed about. I give them 1000 stars!!!!!
Alejandro loves it here, we have had such a great experience with this afterschool program. Everyone is extremely sweet and involved on the kids development. Mrs. King is just full of love and she just a positive role model and teacher. He will be attending for years to come. And here we are, years later!!!
Your first Karate class at Altamonte American Karate Academy
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
