From the reviews
Master Nathaniel is without a doubt, the real deal. What do I mean by this? Firstly, and most importantly, he is an amazing human being, full of positivity, friendship, mentorship, leadership, values, and excellence.
I figured when I signed up to take Karate that I'd just learn how to defend myself but after a year I've received so much more than that that I didn't expect. After being a successful business owner for over 10 years, I'm learning new levels of confidence that I didn't know was missing.
Absolutely! Here's a revised review for Austin Karate Center: --- I cannot recommend Austin Karate Center highly enough! It stands out as one of the few schools in Austin that teaches the traditional Okinawa Goju Ryu style of karate.
I met Master Nathaniel when looking for a martial arts school for my kiddos. After meeting him, I knew I found the right place. He is talented, no doubt, his credentials are extremely impressive. But what stood out for me, as a mother, is his genuine enthusiasm for teaching kids.
Your first Karate class at Austin Karate Center
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
