From the reviews
My son absolutely loves this karate school! Every time he goes, I can see how much he enjoys being there. The instructors are amazing at keeping him both challenged and encouraged. I’ve noticed his confidence growing, and he’s learning not just karate, but also discipline and respect.
We have been coming to Bill Taylor’s Bushido School of Karate for almost 10 years, can not say enough good things about the school and their instructors. As a sport it has been great for our boys both physically and mentally, but the whole experience has been so much more than that for them.
I’ve been training at Bill Taylor’s Bushido School of Karate since 2009. My kids started during a summer program. At the end of the summer, when I asked my daughter if she wanted to continue, she said, “Only if you do it with me Daddy”.
If you’re looking for a martial arts school then Bill Taylor’s Bushido School of Karate is the place you’re looking for. We started our son around 5 years ago and now all 5 of our children attend. It’s like we’re part of a family and they genuinely care about their students.
Your first Karate class at Bill Taylor's Bushido School of Karate
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
