From the reviews
About 15 years ago, and about a year after receiving my 1st Dan degree black belt, I had left the school due to moving out of the area and because of work constraints. Over those 15 years I drifted away from martial arts training, up until recently when my 10 year old son Shane started to take an interest in Karate.
I researched all of the around karate schools prior to selecting Chang Karate. It was evident the difference that Chang Karate had on the other schools. The other schools were more like a neon show with music. When you enter Chang Karate, you know right away that you are in a true karate school.
After having our boys train with Master Chang for over nine years, we would highly recommend Chang Karate School to all parents that want to offer the gift of confidence, discipline, and ability to protect themselves. Our oldest son started training at the age of six.
Master Chang is an amazing trainer. He is very attentive to development of his students. My daughter truly enjoys training at Chang Karate School.
Your first Karate class at Chang Karate School
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
