From the reviews
Since Dojo opened in Medina well over a decade ago, I have been both a parent to a student, and a student there myself. My daughter started karate there when she first started kindergarten, and continued though middle school.
We have two kids enrolled at Dojo Karate (3 and 5) and we are thrilled with it. They are learning to control their bodies, learning in a group setting, and practicing respect and discipline. They love training and practicing and the games that are played in class.
My 5 year old son has been enrolled for just over a year and I take the evening kickboxing classes. Fantastic people at this Dojo all around. Love the instructors. They’ve done a great job at creating a family like environment while keeping focus on excellence in training and instruction.
Dojo Karate - Medina is fantastic. Our daughter started coming to Dojo Karate - Medina after she was invited to a birthday party here. After a 30-day trial period, our daughter began her martial arts journey.
Your first Karate class at Dojo Karate - Medina
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
