From the reviews
We love the Henry Graves Martial Arts Academy! Hanshi Henry Graves fills his dojo with positivity, excellence, and respect. The students excel because they are empowered to do so. We have tried several dojos across Orlando and HGMAA is the whole package.
Mr Graves is a great instructor. He takes his time with the children to make sure that they all understand everything and get every move correct. My son enjoys karate and it has improved his behavior and attitude. I appreciate mr Graves for all his dedication and hard work
If you're the parent of a VERY energetic child and you're struggling to find an activity beyond swimming, t-ball, or soccer, this review is for you. We visited a few karate dojos before finding this one, and it was the perfect fit.
This is the best dojo in town. If you want to learn martial arts and have a family atmosphere this is the place to be. Please come out and get an unbelievable experience while learning an art that will be with you for the rest of your life.
Your first Karate class at HENRY GRAVES MARTIAL ARTS ACADEMY
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
