From the reviews
I’m a 43-year-old woman with no prior martial arts experience and have been attending JP’s Kajukenbo Karate for a little over a year. It’s been AMAZING and I’m so glad I decided to join. I have gained confidence, self-defense skills, strength, knowledge, and friendship.
Jason is a great instructor!!! My daughter enjoys going to class and his prices are very reasonable!!! Classes are offered everyday, so it is easy to fit in my schedule! He also has has women self defense classes! I highly recommend if you are looking for a good, affordable karate school.
Two of my children attend this school and we’re very happy with it. The instructor, Jason Pigg, is great with the kids and is a great mix of fun yet firm with them. The prices are amazing too! I’d recommend this school to anyone who is looking to put their child in a martial arts program.
I really enjoyed being a part of this school. As a student of 6 years, I’ve enjoyed joining the classes not only due what we learn and practice in class but because of the warm feeling of Ohana (family).
Your first Karate class at JP's Kajukenbo Karate
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
