From the reviews
Mile High Karate has been amazing! I started training when I was nine years old and have loved it ever sense! I am now 16 years old and I am an instructor at this location with my 2nd degree black belt and I truly am loving it.
Amazing organization! I've been lucky enough to have been a part of Mile High Karate for more then 22 years! The skills they teach go way beyond kicking and punching. I can't wait to open my own school and continue to help kids develop confidence, self discipline and so much more!
This is a great place to learn karate! The atmosphere is friendly and family oriented with instructors that actually care about their students. I have enrolled my entire family and we all enjoy our time here learning as a family and this experience and atmosphere has brought us closer as a family.
Children and adults wanting to study martial arts should do so at MHK in Westminster. The owners (Alan and Kelli) are professional, caring, and have a systematic and holistic process to help their students meet their goals.
Your first Karate class at Mile High Karate
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
