From the reviews
Moo Duk Kwan HQ is a premier location for anyone looking for a traditional martial art deeply steeped in Korean history and culture. Since 1975 the Moo Duk Kwan has proven, by far, that it's the only art that encompasses the entire mind and body.
We've been at this school for a little over a year now and it's been a nice addition to my 4 year olds after school schedule. We come two times a week and everyone is very friendly and patient with my sons learning for his age.
This is a phenomenal Moo Duk Kwan school! The instructors are extremely knowledgable and skilled. They not only teach Soo Bahk Do well the instructors will invest in your success as person. They care and support the students growth in every aspect. I am lucky and fortunate to have learned from them!
When you think of karate, you usually think of physical activity and learning self-defense skills. Moo Duk Kwan is certainly that, but for us it has been much more. My son has been going there since he was five years old, and I have seen how much it has helped shape him.
Your first Karate class at Moo Duk Kwan HQ
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
