From the reviews

My 7 year old loves this place! He attends a 6-7year old class three times per week. Each week they focus on a skill (rolls, vaults, jumps, etc). Within each skill, the instructor breaks down the skill for all students to learn. And if the kids don’t pick it up, one of the many assistants is by their side showing them!

Motion Tulsa has been an absolute blessing for my 6-year-old. He goes here for his after-school program, and it’s become one of the highlights of his entire week. The moment he walks in, he lights up—this place gives kids the space to climb, run, explore, and push themselves in the best way.

We started at MP a couple of weeks ago and I have been extraordinarily impressed with the program. My oldest son has motor planning dysfunction and has been in physical therapy since 5 months of age.

My 8 year old son with Autism has attended the after school program since January. All of the instructors and staff have been wonderful, and very accommodating of his special needs. We have seen an increase in his confidence, attention span and social skills. Three points Karate has been such a great program for us!

Your first Karate class at Motion Tulsa

Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.

Karate is a contact sport. Ease in, train within your limits, listen to your instructors, and if you have any injuries or health concerns, mention them before class and check with a doctor if you're unsure.
