My 9 year old daughter is going to North Peoria Karate Academy since last year. This is a great academy and Sensei Robert & Sensei Steve are doing an awesome job to train the kids. My kid has gained so much confidence. I highly recommend this place.
This is a great place to learn karate. I have a 6 year old who wasn't interested in any sports or other activities that require skills and experience. We started going to North Peoria Karate Academy, and it was a game changer. Sensei Steve and Robert are very supportive, pay attention to each person, and help them.
North Peoria Karate Academy is a wonderful place to learn real karate. My 14 year old son loves going and learning from Sensei Robert and Sensei Steve. This is not a place that rips you off by just taking your money and giving fake teachings, this is a great dojo.
Instructors and staff were friendly and welcoming. Great atmosphere and my kids felt comfortable there. The instructors were engaging and great with the kids. It's the perfect place for your children to learn skill and discipline all while having fun! Affordable prices compared to other karate schools.
Your first Karate class at North Peoria Karate Academy
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
