From the reviews
Our son loves the Safe Side karate classes! I love that Sensei incorporates what to do if you need help/get lost. Our son has learned our address and both of our phone numbers because of it! I also enjoy the cardio kickboxing classes. Good workout and sensei keeps it fun!
Our son is enrolled in the safe side karate classes. I echo that Sensei Ryan has done a phenomenal job teaching the safety skills necessary to help keep our son safe. All of the staff are a pleasure to work with and I expect we will be proud members of this dojo for a long time to come!
i signed my son up for there safe siders program and sensei Ryan has done a incredible job not just teaching him the basics of self defense but things he can use for every day safety in different situations. he also partakes in a spar class where he learns more about the fundamentals of karate and absolutely loves it.
Sensei Ryan is amazing interacting with the kids. My son, 8 years old, has been training at Peoples Kenpo Karate for just about a year now and he absolutely loves it. He has boosted his confidence and self defense which is exactly what I was looking for.
Your first Karate class at Peoples Kenpo Karate, Rhyno's
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
