From the reviews
My wife and I enrolled our son at PowerKenpo when he was three years old, and he's been attending for the last 7 months or so. We started him at PowerKenpo after spending the summer taking him to soccer and watching him interfere with the class, flopping on the floor, and refusing to participate.
Looking for a fun and empowering summer camp for your kids? Power Kenpo Karate!! As a parent, I can't recommend the camps enough. Both of my kids, now in college and high school, still fondly reminisce about their unforgettable summers at karate camp (both went for years).
Our (then) 5-year-old son joined 6 months ago, and he's been loving it! I've seen his overall confidence and sense of capability really increase since he's been attending, which was our overall goal in the first place. The staff are all incredible and very patient with the kids.
My son has been attending PowerKenpo Karate for 6 months. He's gained a deep appreciation for karate and looks forward to attending class. All coaches are amazing with the kids. They are patient, knowledgeable, and has a great way of breaking down the techniques for even the younger kids.
Your first Karate class at Power Kenpo
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
