I have many years of experience in Shotokan.This is the real deal my children are both black belts there. We are a non profit, unlike these other dojo’s here they charge you an arm and a leg Nickel and dime you to death.They have been here for 56 years now that speaks for itself.
I've been going to Sensi Allen's dojo since I was a little boy and I couldn't ask for a better teacher. There is no one who is as patient and better at explaining techniques than Mr. Allen. I go to other martial arts schools, and while the teachers are good, none of them are on the level of Mr. Allen.
Well i was wondering if you guys were still open and if you are i will be more then welcome to join you. You see i used to take classes with my best friend's uncle but i moved far away and now i don't take classes anymore.
Best dojo in Rockford. Experienced compationate teachers. Exceptional school for children. Sensei John Allen ( 8th Dan) has been teaching for over 40 years and is magic. He has the gift of teaching and passing on the way of the tiger yet with compassion ,while respecting others. Can't say enough about him!
Your first Karate class at Rockford Karate Club
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
