From the reviews
We couldn't be happier with Master Rockhold. We have had a six and a four year old in his class for a year. We tried two other local schools prior to Rockhold and were not satisfied. So glad we kept looking! He is extremely friendly and patient with our kids.
My son has been attending class here for almost 2 years. We have been so amazed at his progress. Our son is diagnosed ASD so he was really introverted and easily distracted. Since attending Rockhold Karate his self confidence has improved dramatically.
My 6 yr old grandson has been in the Rockhold Karate Kids program for the last 7 months. Learning the fundamentals of this martial art has improved his focus and overall well-being. His mother told me that she can tell the difference in his attitude on weeks that we don't make it to class.
My 8 year old daughter has been coming here for the past few years, she really has enjoyed learning Karate. Mr. Rockhold has a perfect way of teaching the very little ones by making the classes fun and interesting and also enforcing discipline at the same time. She is now in the older classes and she still enjoys it.
Your first Karate class at Rockhold Karate
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
