We absolutely loved our first martial arts class experience! The intro class was awesome, and my kid won’t stop showing off his moves and talking about breaking his first board. The instructors and staff have been fantastic! Very friendly, understanding, and always willing to listen.
My daughter recently started karate at SKC. She has been enjoying herself a ton! She is building confidence in herself which is all I could ask for. But the staff is also so friendly and incredible and so happy to be there. I hope for the years to come my kid still enjoys it here.
Our 6yo tried Karate at SKC and loved it! Sadly, we couldn’t make it work. A year later the new N. Augusta location open a lot closer and we’re back! My little man just loves it! The instructors are top notch and genuinely care about the kids! We wouldn’t train anywhere else! Thanks SKC!
My son has been participating with SKC for the past 8+ months and he loves it! Also he has grown so much, learning respect, discipline, and focus. The karate instructors are all wonderful people--- patient, kind, firm, and do excellent jobs working with children!
Your first Karate class at Seigler's Karate Center - North Augusta
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
