From the reviews
This is a fantastic karate school. The instructors are kind and patient with really young students, while still maintaining the high standards that make their program exceptional. I have two kids taking classes, ages 7 and 5, and they are learn so much more than just a martial art.
Karate University is such an amazing place! My 8 and 6yo kids have been attending for about 6 months now. They have so much fun while learning. All of the instructors especially sensei Larry are super friendly, encouraging, and inclusive.
Our youngest daughter is signed up here and we love it. The experience, staff, and karate discipline basics she is learning have helped her flourish. We are now having our oldest join to acquire the same experience her sister has. We are excited for the future for our girls and the karate university!
Instructors and staff are very professional and patient. My daughter is extremely excited to be starting karate with The Karate University! It makes my heart happy to see her so focused in class and excited to learn. Looking forward to seeing her grow and mature in so many ways!
Your first Karate class at The Karate University
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
