From the reviews
I cannot speak to the quality of the competitive martial arts training, as I have no background in it and my child is only 4 and just starting. Over the last few months I have witnessed a depth of character and class in these instructors that is hard to quantify. Mr. Wyatt, Mr. Freeman, and Mr.
We love Tiger Academy! The instructors are great with Childrens. They are fun, encouraging and patient. My 4 year old has been attending for more the 30 days now and loves it. He wakes up every morning asking if it’s karate day.
Both of my girls are thriving at TIGER. My oldest has gained so much confidence while doing karate and the teachers have helped so much! We can't wait to add our son to the TIGER family. We couldn't be happier; they are all phenomenal.
My daughter, recently turned 6, is extremely strong willed, anxious and very imaginative; meaning she can be a handful! She really tests her instructor, Master Horton, but he remains patient with her. Both instructors in there (Master Horton & Master Diggs) are firm but not overbearing.
Your first Karate class at TIGER Academy of Martial Arts
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
