From the reviews
My daughter has been going here for several years. They are not just a karate school. They are leadership school. They trained their students to be resilient, hard-working, and strong. My daughter was very shy and not only have they made her stronger.
My son has been going here since August of 2022. He has ADHD, and it really has helped give him tools in his backpack to use in life with self-discipline. It gives him an outlet to get energy out in a safe space. It’s been so fun to watch him learn and grow over the last few years.
Grant has been an active member of Acadiana Karate for over three years. In those three short years, he has learned discipline, self confidence and his own self worth. He looks forward to going to class. No need to remind him of classes.
Acadiana Karate has been absolutely wonderful! My son has only been in the little ninjas for 3 months and I can already see positive changes in him. I love the environment I love the positivity and encouragement and discipline they try to instill in these kids! I love it.
Your first Karate class at Acadiana Karate
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
