From the reviews
If i could i would do more stars but it only allows 5. My son is so active and was having some issues at school and not following directions. I wanted to try something that would help with his control and discipline.
UPDATE: 3 years later and he still loves it. 1/19/2023 My little one started karate here about 6 months ago and absolutly LOVES IT. It has helped his Focus, Concentration and Confidence. The change we have seen in him is great, his teacher has also said she has seen a positive change in him as well.
My son has been going here for the past 3 years and since coming here I have noticed a boost in confidence, discipline and organization skills. My son loves coming to classes and looks forward to attending daily. This studio, staff and students have become part of our extended family.
Alicea’s Martial Arts has been my saving grace. Since enrolling my son a few years ago, his behavior and karate skills have improved and he still enjoys it. Master Alicea, Mrs. Desi, Mr. Ramon along with the rest of the staff are awesome! Thank you all!
Your first Karate class at Alicea's Martial Arts Studios
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
