“My son used to go to another studio, and without downing that studio, I have to say that this studio has been a Godsend to not only our son, but our family as well.”
“Back in March 2022, American Karate Studios host a tournament called March Madness and that’s where it became evident that was the studio my son was meant to be in.”
“Truly a great experience and highly recommend them to anyone who wants to learn Kenpo Karate.”
“They’re all super patient, kind, nurturing to all the kids, honest, respectful and anything I looked for or expected in someone as a leader for my son.”
From the reviews
This studio is the gold standard in karate teachings in the tri-county area. My son had been a student at one of the other area schools for years where you pay ridiculous fees to learn a few basic moves over and over, never really learning the art of self defense. With American Karate, you learn everything.
For starters, coming to American Karate Studios was THE BEST choice I could have made for my son. My son had started karate when he was 5 years old at another facility. We were so new to the extra circular activities and didn’t know the ins and outs but wanted him to be active in something.
My son used to go to another studio, and without downing that studio, I have to say that this studio has been a Godsend to not only our son, but our family as well.
After going to a different karate school for 3 years, I switched to American Karate. I have to say, it was the best decision. They go above and beyond for their students, and I have not once had a bad experience with them. If someone wanted to start their karate journey, I would 100% point them here.
Your first Karate class at American Karate Studios
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
