From the reviews
I cannot recommend East Montgomery Martial Arts Academy enough! My 15 year old son has been studying Jiu Jitsu there for several months and karate with a related school for four years, and loves it! He comes out of every Jiu Jitsu class completely sweaty and happy.
I have studied at East Montgomery Karate Academy for 16 years. As a child, I quickly fell in love with learning the techniques and enjoyed my training. As I matured, I found that my training helped me to stay focused in school and increased my self confidence and self awareness.
This dojo has been more than a place to practice and learn karate. It has become a home and a welcome retreat through the difficulties of the pandemic. Mr Exaros is a top notch leader and instructor.
Joining this dojo for Jiu Jitsu is one of the best decisions I have made. On top of being great for mental health and physical well being, you would be hard pressed to find a more welcoming and respectful atmosphere. From day one, the staff and students made me feel comfortable with making mistakes.
Your first Karate class at East Montgomery Martial Arts Academy LLC
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
