From the reviews
East West Karate is more than just training, it lays a foundation for leadership and communication. The instructors pushed me to step up, teach, and inspire others, helping me grow in confidence and discipline. The skills I gained here go far beyond martial arts—they’ve shaped who I am today. Highly recommend!
Our experience at East West Karate Jamison has been great. My daughters have been training here for over a year, and I can confidently say it's been a transformative journey for them.
Our son started at EWK Jamison in April 2024. Sensei Mike, Sensei Nick, and Coach Kellie are phenomenal mentors! We have noticed incredible growth emotionally, mentally, and physically in our son since day one! Every class starts with positive affirmations found within the Student Creed.
Two weeks ago, we celebrated my son’s birthday with an extraordinary party at the East West Karate Gym in Jamison, and it was nothing short of magical. In search of a unique Ninja Warrior-themed celebration, I reached out to our local community group on Facebook.
Your first Karate class at East West Karate
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
