From the reviews
*Edit* 2021-2025, and still going! 2022: We are one year in now, with no end in sight. Signed up my son right after he had turned 6 years old in the midst of kinder homeschooling through the pandemic. We started with the free two week trial and knew right away it was a great choice!
10 stars all round!!!! My son Boghos and his 2 other friends started with Sensei Berj at the Armenian Community Center back 4 years ago and today they are lucky to call the New Studio in Whittier their new home along with tons of new children attending!
My son started attending when they had a free two week trial! He is 3 1/2 years old and I wanted him to learn more discipline and focus while strengthening his mind and body. Both of the teachers are so polite and really understand how to speak to their students (children) at his age.
The Jeff Speakman's Kenpo 5.0 karate system is the best there is. This version of American Kenpo has combined Mr. Ed Parker's American Kenpo and adapted it to include the ground work that Jiu Jitsu is well known for.

Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
