From the reviews
Excellent Karate Center with Inclusive and Supportive Training We have had a wonderful experience with this karate center. My son, who has Autism and ADHD, has shown remarkable progress since beginning private training sessions.
We've been coming here for the last four years, and we're so happy. We feel like family. Both of my boys (7 and 9) take karate here, and they both enjoy the group classes as well as sparring, grappling and private classes. They are learning discipline and respect as well as gaining confidence in themselves .
My 4 year old has been attending the dojo for about a month and I only have good things to say about it. My son was assigned a karate buddy on his first class, someone to help and support him.
My grandson has been taking classes here since he was 3 years old. He loves learning karate here! He's progressed well and equally important is the fact that it's become a community for him. Sensei Luis has become such a wonderful role model and mentor for him and Sensei Lori is so positive and encouraging.
Your first Karate class at Karate for Kids Mission Viejo
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
