From the reviews
Our kids (7 & 9) have been attending Karate International for nearly year and a half and I cannot say enough good things!! It is the real deal. We LOVE it. The owners run the school with a level of professionalism that is unmatched.
My husband and I have been taking karate at KISA for nearly a year now. I am in my late 30s and was obese and out of shape when I started. There was no judgement from the instructors, staff, or other students. Everyone was super supportive and encouraging.
Best summer camp for your money! Camp counselors (and plenty of them) keep the kids active and well supervised. So many special activities like bringing in large inflatables, petting zoos, and games. Kids come home happy and exhausted ! Thank you! Best summer ever!
My wife and I have been coming to this dojo for a few months. I didn't know what to expect, starting a new class as an adult. But I was pleasantly surprised to find a really welcoming environment. I was primarily interested in learning some self-defense, getting into shape, losing weight.
Your first Karate class at Karate International San Antonio & AForce Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
