From the reviews
My 5 yr old son enjoyed the first class so we brought our 4 yr old daughter. Now we have two young kids in the program, and I couldn't be happier with the progress shown in improved respect & at-home listening skills just within these short fee weeks!
We just recently signed my grandson up at Kinder Karate but from day one we knew it was right for him. The classes are separated by age groups (ours is 5-6) and their main focus is to teach these kids how to focus and be respectful.
After three trial classes, my 5-year old kiddo is hooked. He already feels part of the group and cannot wait to keep attending weekly to learn more. He’s even teaching us and others what he has already picked up.
I wasn’t sure if this would be something my son could do at 3yrs 8mos old due to attention span. They offer a trial program here which I thought was great and we were able to see that he enjoys it so it holds his attention. Plus he gets to meet and interact with some other kids.
Your first Karate class at Kinder Karate Pleasant Hills
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
