From the reviews
This school has done wonders for my son. He's a typical bouncing off the walls 6 year old, and while I don't expect that to change, I have seen him apply the self-control he's learned within this school to his outside life on more than one occasion.
My 4 year old son was struggling in his first year of school with listening, behaving and following directions. One day he mentioned karate, I messaged Mike, and bam we were signed up. My son loves it. Sensei Mike and everyone else here has really made a big impact on my son’s life.
We LOVE being a part of this vibrant community of students and teachers! If you’re interested in giving your child an environment filled with continuous support and encouragement, high energy, and positive enthusiasm, this is the place! This rapidly growing martial arts center has the perfect mix of fun and function.
My son has long loathed physical activity of all kinds. He doesn’t participate in team sports, so it was important for me that he still remains active, but finding something he would agree to attend was never easy.
Your first Karate class at Level Up Martial Arts
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
