From the reviews
My daughter has been a student at Lim Kenpo Karate since she was 7 years old...she is now 14 years old. It has been an amazing and wonderful experience to watch my daughter learn how to not only defend herself, but also to become a leader at the school.
I highly recommend Lim Kenpo Karate. My family has been involved with Lim Kenpo Karate for seven years now. My son, daughter, and I all take classes. Both my kids are learning so much and I have the peace of mind knowing that they have the knowledge and skills to defend themselves.
Having been in the martial arts for over 25 years I have encountered some good martial artists and I have encountered some great martial artists. To me a great martial artist is not only proficient at their chosen discipline, but they also know what's most important in life - God, family, and then the martial arts.
For many years my whole family participated in Lim Kenpo Karate. The Lim's taught us not only the art of Kenpo Karate, the love of the art and the history of the art. Their dedication and honor to their art is unwavering. My kids still talk about the lessons they learned and the fun they had.
Your first Karate class at Lim Kenpo Karate Chandler AZ
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
