From the reviews
Kim Kenpo delivers top notch professional instruction in karate and self defense. I trust every instructor with all four of my young ladies. We all value their wisdom, strength, and integrity. If you’re looking for a strong foundation in martial arts...Lim Kenpo SD is the place to start.
Our family or four (from a 10 year old through a 42 year old) have been attending for around six months now. The instructors are amazing and very patient and knowledgeable. I am already seeing a difference in myself (both in balance and in flexibility) but more importantly I am seeing a difference in my children.
Both Professor Coree and Instructor Kyle are true martial artists. They are both tough in a good way, and deeply care for all of their students. You can tell that both of them seek to model the life style of martial arts in a virtuous manner. I am not ashamed to say that I prayed for teachers like them.
My son and I have been attending Lim Kenpo Karate for a year now. We absolutely love it there. Professor Coree, Instructor Kyle and all of the other instructors are so awesome! They are great with kiddos. It’s a big family and we love it!!
Your first Karate class at Lim Kenpo Karate South Dakota
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
