From the reviews
My son has been attending Montgomery Karate since February 2017 and he absolutely LOVES it! Soo Bahk Do helps him stay focused and maintain his ADHD. I have definitely seen a change in his behavior since starting Soo Bahk Do at Montgomery Karate. The friendships he has made will be everlasting.
If you are looking for a Karate studio for your child or yourself, I can’t recommend Montgomery Karate enough! My daughter absolutely loves coming here and her instructors are amazing! She is learning focus and discipline while enjoying herself.
My son has been attending this karate school for one month now, and so far, it has been a great experience. He has already earned his blue tip belt, which has really boosted his confidence and sense of achievement.
Montgomery Karate is absolutely amazing! Master Guinn is phenomenal with all ages. I’ve seen him personally engage kids 2-12yrs+ at one time!! This is a gift! We have had the privilege of attending multiple events both the homeschool classes and community events.
Your first Karate class at Montgomery Karate
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
