From the reviews
My son joined Elk River PKS in 2007 when he was six years old. He's now a second degree black belt and a volunteer at the studio. He's small for his age, and his experience at PKS has helped him become a stronger, more confident person who isn't afraid to set challenging goals for himself and work hard to achieve them.
I started training with The Elk River PKS when I was 10 years old. Young and ambitious, like many people I wanted to be the next Bruce Lee. PKS Elk River built my foundation in the martial arts world and acclimated me to what its all about. I couldn't have asked for a better academy to have the opportunity to train in.
I originally joined Professional Karate Studio in Elk River to be supportive of my niece. It has been 2 1/2 years now, and we are both well on our way to achieving our goal of a black belt. I have watched my niece grow in confidence, discipline and respect. Master Cornelius, and Ms.
My 12 yr old daughter used to go to the Rogers location that closed a few years ago. We paid for the black belt club right before they closed and we did transition into the new instructors there achieving her black belt in a somewhat of a forced environment to progress quickly.
Your first Karate class at Professional Karate Studios
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
