From the reviews
We had our son’s 5th birthday party here. If you’re looking for something unique this is a great place to have a child’s birthday party. They were professional and took care of the set up and clean up. Sensei Koerner & Sensei Bush were great with all the children.
My son has been attending Rising Sun Academy for almost three years and he has grown so much thanks to their guidance. I have watched his coordination, balance, and speed increase. Even better, he has grown confidence in himself.
We enrolled our son into RSKA 3 years ago, and it was the best decision we ever made! The instructors there are amazing and have shown him compassion, patience, determination, and the importance and value of hard work.
My son started here almost a year ago when he had just turned 4, and he still loves coming to classes every week. Through that time, I have seen his confidence, focus, and endurance grow. Sensei Kerner and Ms. Nguyen are absolutely fantastic with the kids!
Your first Karate class at Rising Sun Karate Academy
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
