This dojo is amazing. My 6 year old daughter love it here. She is so inspired to one day become a sensai herself. You won't regret bringing yourself or your children to this dojo. Thank you sensai for always being so welcoming.
I absolutely love this studio. The Blanco family that runs it is amazing and friendly. I called around looking at other karate places but this was the only place that actually gave me a price on the phone. The price is very reasonable and my twins can attend more classes in a week than at any other dojo.
I enrolled my grandkids for martial arts classes here. Aside from affordable fees, the kids feel at ease and welcome. They love coming to class. The kids in higher belts grew up in this place. The senseis are very patient, welcoming, and friendly.
I personally have only good things to say about this dojo it is fun, peaceful, and enjoyable in many different way, it has been a pleasure to learn martial arts in this place for the past few months and really looking for years of learning to go by in this fantastic dojo.
Your first Karate class at Sungadan Karate Studios
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
