From the reviews
I started about a year ago, at age 41, with no prior martial arts experience. Sensei Tony is an amazing teacher. He is very passionate about helping others learn about and succeed in martial arts.
I am 14 and I started when i was 12. When i frist started I did not want to do karate, i thought it was stupid, with no real sense to it. Well my parents got me on the program. And i was mad, and nervous, but once i went, i felt safe, and valued.
Been training for 6 years now, ever since I was 10 years old, and I couldn't have asked for more. Such a pleasant, fun environment with professional instructors who really know their stuff.
Excellent teaching style, tailored to individual abilities and levels. The teachers care about each student and are committed to our learning, no matter the level or aptitude. The techniques are useful in real-world applications, and cover almost every contingency a person is likely to face in a physical confrontation.
Your first Karate class at TruMotion Martial Arts - Bountiful
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
