From the reviews
Both of my kids attend the Academy of Traditional Karate and has been great for both of them. Not only do they learn karate, but many real life lessons. I could not be happier with the results over the past 7 years and looking forward to many more!
All 4 of my kids have been training at ATK for over 10 years. It is the best decision we’ve ever made! The school is caring, committed and teaches much more than just karate. They help kids stay focused, disciplined and learn about self respect and bullying prevention.
My daughter (4) wanted to try karate. I was excited for her and thrilled about her getting training not only in self defense but also in how to conduct yourself as a respectful child. ATK did not disappoint! The instructors are amazing and my daughter is learning so much every week. I would highly recommend!!
My son has attended The Academy of Traditional Karate for about a year now. We’d previously done trial classes at a few other local dojos before settling on ATK. ATK may be a bit more expensive than some of the other dojos, but its quality is infinitely higher.

Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
