From the reviews
My son has been a student of Sensai Amanda for roughly 9 years. He has matured and learned so much from her teachings. Self discipline, Leadership, Self confidence, teamwork to name a few! I highly recommend for all ages 5☆ from our family!
Advancing Karate is truly the best! My son gets so much more out of classes with Sensei Amanda than just karate. She also teaches respect, social emotional skills, self defense, self care and demonstrates how to genuinely be a caring person.
My 8 year old son and 7 year old daughter both go to this karate Dojo. Sensei Kaufman is amazing!!!! My kids always want to go to class and have developed many friendships with the other kids there. Not only do they learn karate, but the developed confidence, perseverance, and a greater respect for their elders.
My son took karate throughout grade school with Advancing Karate. If you're looking for a place that will help you or your child build self-esteem, focus, or a good workout...this is it! Everyone is so supportive and helpful. Sensei Amanda is a wonderful person and teacher.
Your first Karate class at Advancing Karate, Ltd.
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
