From the reviews
Great environment for young and old to learn discipline. My son loves what he is learning and is really helping him with control and agility. I am proud to recommend this karate dojo.
Everybody is so amazing and they take great care of the students there!! I am on the autism spectrum and struggled with fine/gross motor skills and had poor hand/eye coordination. The senseis there helped me with all those wonderful things ever since my old school offered it when I was in kindergarten.
Out of all the places I’ve trained over the years, no one quite does it like the family at Allen’s American Martial Arts! They have not only helped with my physical growth, but my mental growth beyond comparison, they pour so much positivity and confidence into their students and provide an atmosphere like no other…
Such a great dojo with caring and knowledgeable Sensei’s. Our children have learned so much there about respect and building confidence. They have life lessons to carry throughout the years and a second family at Allen’s.
Your first Karate class at Allen's American Martial Arts
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
