Before our son joined the ATA program in Bayonne he was an introverted boy in school with speech impediments. After 2 years he got Student of the Month at Washington school and had made new friends and won medals in almost every tournament. If you're child has the same difficulties this program does wonders!
My 7 year old son loves this place. Not only he gets a great workout there, he also learns about respect and discipline. Awesome idea for extra activity for kids especially during the winter when kids don't get enough exercise outside.
My son has been a part of the ATA Bayonne program for a little over a year. The program has instilled confidence, accountability and a desire for him to work harder. He just began the leadership program and loves it. The challenge is not convincing him to go multiple times a week, it’s to get him to leave at the end.
What a Great School! My kids Love the instructors and the atmosphere. I am very happy to see how clean the school is. The staff takes their time to clean everything in between classes, take temperatures at the door, have the students spaced out, and abide by all CDC guidelines.
Your first Karate class at ATA Bayonne Martial Arts
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
