From the reviews
We could not be happier with our experiences at Bedford Martial Arts Academy! My children began taking classes there a little over a year ago, and they have loved every second of their time there. I have watched them build confidence, learn self-control, sharpen their focus, practice respect, and so much more.
I was super hesitant coming here at first. I saw an ad on facebook for a free trial so we did it. I’m so glad we did, no regrets now! The first time we went, my 3 almost 4 year old son stayed clung to my leg, not wanting to participate it gave me very little hope until Mr.
On Jan.25,2022 my grandson stated taking karate lessons at Bedford Martial Arts. The instructors work with the children helping the to learn the many skills to rank up to the next belt level. Everyone is so friendly. I can't wait till my grandson learns all the skills to be able to join the black belt club!
We love Bedford Martial Arts Academy! Highly recommend! I specifically love the instructors and their methods of letting kids go at their own pace. They set them up for success. My son has gained so much confidence with this program. Highly recommend! Also love love LOVE the Elite After School program.
Your first Karate class at Bedford Martial Arts Academy
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
