From the reviews
So I have been training at Claycomb Academy of Martial Arts for a year now and not a day goes by that I’m not grateful for being apart of this dojo! I like that the classes are small enough that you get lots of attention from the Sensei’s and Shihan, the dojo itself is clean, and the fact that we work with pads and…
Claycomb Academy of Martial Arts is a true testament of growth. With over 20 years of experience. This is the best place to bring your children to learn real karate. They also have great classes for adults. A spacious clean facility to step into. Also, a place to witness Michael Sugarbomb an amateur kickboxing Fighter.
I highly recommend this Dojo. My son has attended for several months now and he is loving it. It’s a very clean facility. The Sensei and his assistants are knowledgeable and are all friendly and caring. My son is learning discipline, respect and honor. It is a family friendly dojo.
CLAYCOMB Karate Academy has been a great place and still is. I have been coming here for almost a month now, and it is amazing! My 3 boys also attend their classes and I have seen some improvement in social communication and feeling better in their daily lives.
Your first Karate class at Claycomb Karate & Kickboxing
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
