We’ve been with DRKA since May of this year. Our daughter is enjoying her experience and looks forward to weekly classes which have helped her with focus, improved coordination and great exercise in using up all that 8 yr old high octane energy.
My son has been going here since August 2022. I can't believe the strides he's made since being here. He has become more focused and helpful at home and at school. He also takes initiative with chores around the house to be more helpful. He looks forward to going every week.
Best Karate Academy around !! You will learn from the best and feel right at home. It is a great environment and they provide everyone with the confidence and discipline they need. The child/teacher ration is outstanding!! I can not express how happy we are with Don Rodrigues Karate Academy!! My son loves it.
Don Rodrigues Karate Academy is truly a home away from home for my son and our family. The owners, staff and instructors are dedicated to teaching the next generation of martial artists. Your first Karate class at Don Rodrigues Karate Academy & CBR Kickboxing
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
