From the reviews
Five Star Martial Arts is a great place to go when it comes to karate and self defense for kids. I have seen nothing but positive results within both of my children who are presently taking classes there.
Five Star welcomed us as new members a little over 6 yrs ago and it has been a phenomenal experience for my son and I! Sensei Paul Napoli went above and beyond to help with my son's focus difficulties. Always encouraging, always motivating, always positive, always pushing us to be the best we can be.
This place is AMAZING!!! My daughter absolutely loves it and so do I! They keep it fun and exciting in every class and the staff and instructors are wonderful with the kids. Thank you Five star for helping my daughter with her confidence and the consistent motivation you create in each class!
My grandson started at Five Star on a trial membership. Within the 1st couple classes we knew we had found a program that we would be part of for many years to come. We not only signed him up but also two of my granddaughters. I don't know who is more excited to go to class them or us.
Your first Karate class at Five Star Martial Arts
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
