From the reviews
I can not say enough good things about Innovate and both Master and Mrs. Turner. My son only recently started training at Innovate in January of this year, and he has amazed me with what he is learning! We were not sure how it would go and were just “giving it a try” and I am so glad we did!
Innovate Martial Arts is 100% the place to send your child if you are looking for a place to have them feel supported, empowered, and gain self-confidence not only in martial arts but in their daily lives as well. The staff, families, and everything in between has been a true god-send to our children and family.
My son took a trial class at Innovate Martial Arts and was immediately hooked. Master Turner incorporates modern training with the traditional martial arts training so that every child is engaged and active.
My son has been a student at Innovate Martial Arts in Jackson since February. Training at this school has been a great experience for him. He looks forward to going each week. His experiences in class and with private lessons have been very positive. All of the instructors are great!
Your first Karate class at Innovate Martial Arts
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
