From the reviews
Kearnys American Karate has been a positive experience for me. I had never done kickboxing before and saw an advertisement for $5 classes. I found the workout to be challenging but achievable, and fun! I appreciate that you are expected to preform at the level you're comfortable at.
My daughter started at Kearneys only 3 months ago and has learned so much already. Small class sizes and very family oriented, plenty of one on one instruction. The instructors have years of experience and are absolutely amazing. They take pride in teaching, with patience and motivation!
Excellent work out, friendly atmosphere. I have been attending kick boxing classes for 7+years and have truly benefited from it. Highly recommended for anyone looking to get in shape and learn self defense.
I started kickboxing about 10 years ago and have loved it ever since. The instructor Master Kearney is very knowledgeable and is always saying its not how fast you go or how many you can do just keep your form and go at your own pace.
Your first Karate class at Kearneys American Karate
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
