From the reviews
Mastery is a great program. They are like a extended family. All the leaders care about everything there kids do. From chores at home to school work. It’s much more then martial arts. The instructions have all started out as white belts at mastery.
Having trained in martial arts for several years growing up, I knew what I was looking for when my kids started asking could they do karate. I was disappointed with another local school we tried, BUT the moment we joined Mastery-Coventry, I knew we found a home and family.
I recommend Mastery Martial Arts to everyone I know. The second my son stepped foot on the mat, I knew that was it, we were ALL in. Mr. Hebert, Mrs. Force and all of the instructors are such great role models for the kids and my son loves each and every one of them.
My 5 year old son Austin started 4 months ago and he absolutely loves it. I was hesitant because he has ADHD and high functioning autism. I have to say his teacher Mr. Hebert is absolutely amazing with the kids. Austin can lose focus quite often, but he gets him right back on task and never gets frustrated.
Your first Karate class at Mastery Martial Arts - Coventry
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
