From the reviews

I definitely recommend Mimidis Karate. From my first meeting with Master Mimidis, he put me at ease. He was patient and answered all my questions. My major concern was that my grandson - age 10 - who I was considering enrolling has the disorders of ADHD as well as High Functioning Autism.

Master Paul Mimidis is an incredible teacher. My son has difficulty remembering to clean his room, take care of his things, and listen in school. Master Mimidis has helped my son learn discipline techniques and provided my son with an extra-curricular activity that helps my son in each of these areas.

I am a fairly new, adult student at Mimidis Karate and I would definitely recommend! Paul and every instructor make you feel welcome and encourage growth. They are kind, qualified, and have the experience needed to work with beginners all the way up to top.

My 9 year old grandson is learning so much in your class. He is learning to focus, finding respect for everything and everyone. It is amazing to see a general sense of self confidence. He just loves learning. Now he has a greater sense of purpose. Was wonderful to watch his transformation. Thank You so much.

Your first Karate class at Mimidis Karate

Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.

Karate is a contact sport. Ease in, train within your limits, listen to your instructors, and if you have any injuries or health concerns, mention them before class and check with a doctor if you're unsure.
