From the reviews
Mojukai is a place to learn and grow mentally and physically, you meet new and great people, people you will love being around for years to come, Renshi is a great teacher with his own morales and values, he has taught many people to become good people in general.
Our son has been attending classes here for two years now, and I have been attending for about 6 months. I love the focus on self control, respect, and foundational karate and self-defense skills. Renshi Darby has far beyond just a wealth of knowledge on his art, and he is an incredibly effective and caring instructor.
My son started going here at the beginning of last school year. He was in the after school program, since he started here his behavior, temperment, and understanding increased dramtically. Lennis works with your work schedual and never makes you feel bad if your the last one to pick up your kid.
I believe that the owner is a great instructor and also cares about each student he teaches. This is where your child should be if you want excellent instruction and honest promotions only when they are ready.
Your first Karate class at Mojukai Karate
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
