From the reviews
We recently enrolled our 7 year old in the Tiger's program here at Singewald's ATA in Prior Lake. I have no prior experience with martial arts, but we came to a safety seminar and I was blown away by how they treated the kids and the content of their lesson and completely skipped the trial and signed up for a full…
We started at ATA because my 6 year old was struggling with behavioral issues. This was the best decision! It's a great program for him. He loves it, is working so hard on attitude and is enjoying learning all the skills. Our daughter struggles with confidence and anxiety.
I wish we would have come earlier. They teach martial arts but I was more impressed that they teach discipline, respect, responsibility, leadership and so much more. They make a very positive learning environment and still push the kids. The staff is incredible and you will not be disappointed.
The Singewald's and all of their instructors are absolutely amazing to work with. They take the time to get to know each and every one of their students and work with parents to make sure that your child gets the most out of each class.
Your first Karate class at Samurai ATA Family Martial Arts
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
